Tucan is an
open source application created to
automatically manage downloads and uploads to and from direct download sites.
Completely design in
Python, it is worth thanking the programmers for not using Java that during its development, the most used programming language for this type of application, and that has the inconvenient of making them rather
unstable.
Being an application that is still in alpha phase,
Tucan still has a long and rather promising road ahead. Up to the moment it has plug-ins that will allow it to interact with
Rapidshare, Megaupload, Gigasize, Mediafire, 4Shared and Sendspace.
Depending on the site, it will be able to jump the
captcha, manage
Premium access (for those that are subscribed), and manage the
waiting time between downloads.
We were pleasantly surprised by the applications
download speed and that it all worked in the first try, something that can't be said about the majority of the rivals.
If there is something that makes this application different from the other
download managers is its
simplicity and efficiency.
A very interesting option that should be tracked for future changes.
